KUDOS.............

to all of you women who breastfeed for like a year................ I wasnt able to nurse Konnor because of several issues, so this is my first experience. I am in week 5 and I have to tell ya, I had set a goal of 6 months and that is looking SO far away to me now!! I love nursing him but OH MY GOD the pain. I never realized how hard this was. I push thru it, because it is really important to me, but I have to tell ya, Its so much harder than I ever imagined. Im posting this in hopes that someone will tell me that the pain will go away soon!! I will definately keep it up, at LEAST till 3 months....its worth the pain, but geez, I dont know if I will have any nipples left once this is all over with! (sorry for that image.....). I cant imagine being in this much pain every three hours for the next year...How did you all do it???

I failed at breastfeeding twice so I don't have a bit of advice for you. I can only offer you kudos and encouragement and hope it gets better for you soon.

I can offer that two of my friends had that problem. One, the baby wasn't latching correctly. The other, the baby was tongue tied and required a quick snip to resolve it. Call a lactation consultant for some help. It shouldn't hurt that much that regularly.

Your nipples will toughen up! I nursed for a year w/ my first and 6 mo. w/ my 2nd (only stopped due to her sever milk allergies) and for me the pain only lasted a couple of months. Now, I can't promise how your boobs will look like afterwards.... I'm only 21 and look like a 60 yr. old lady! (not to discourage, I did do it for a long time w/ really no break!)
